Holding Space for Climate Grief

Updated: Jan 6

The recently released book Welcome to Death Faire: Love, Loss, and Healing in a Small Southern Town is a collection of poetry, stories, and photographs documenting an annual celebration in Pittsboro, NC known as Death Faire. Exquisitely curated by Death Faire founder Tami Schwerin, the book features reflections on many aspects of death from local poets, community leaders, and other contributors. I’m honored to be among them. My piece, “Holding Space for Climate Grief,” is included in the collection, and I’ll be reading it on November 2nd at The Plant during the 10th Annual Death Faire.

Death Faire originally emerged in 2016 from personal and shared community grief and has since become part of the larger Death Positive Movement. The movement seeks to nurture the conscious awareness of death as a natural part of life. By developing the capacity to stay present with impermanence, we can not only live with less fear of death but also a deeper appreciation for life. If interested, you can purchase the book below.
